Private Kindergarten Taught from a Christian Worldview

to prepare the hearts and minds of children for a future of servant leadership.

Developing and Shaping Early Learners

Community of Grace Christian School Kindergarten is a great place to start your child’s educational journey. The Kindergarten year is a magical time when students experience many “firsts” in an environment that is small, caring, and just the right combination of play and learning.

Our experienced Kindergarten teacher inspires students’ natural creativity and curiosity about the world. Students discover the joy of learning as they begin to develop reading and writing skills. Spanish, physical education, and art are integrated into the day as well as time for creative play both indoors and out.

Developing community by respecting and caring for each other makes children feel safe to learn and explore. Participation in weekly chapels, Bible stories, and daily prayer for each other and our school clearly demonstrates our mission of developing the whole child: mind, body and spirit.

What a privilege it is to teach at a Christian school. Christian kindergarten is my passion! As educators at CGCS, we are able to model the Word of God and spread the Love of Jesus with our students. We pray with them multiple times a day, as well as when situations arise that call on us to lean on Jesus. We honor Jesus in our classroom and strive to be like him: a kind, caring, and loving friend to everyone. As an employee of CGCS, I feel seen, loved, and well-cared for. It may seem odd for me to talk about myself, but I strongly believe it is important that the adult caring for your children is also cared for and loved. Because I am well-nurtured, I can love and nurture each child in my classroom.

See why families consider us one of the best private kindergartens in White Bear Lake.

Christ-Centered and Faith-filled

“Bible” does not happen only during our scheduled Bible time. Biblical teaching and life lessons are incorporated into each subject throughout every day.

Caring Faculty

Each student will begin their Kindergarten class with a wide variety of prior knowledge and educational foundations. Mrs. Dougherty makes it her goal to quickly learn where each student is academically and meet them there. She then focuses on their individual needs and supports and encourages them to reach their full learning potential. Her goal is to set up an environment that will lead each student to be strong, confident, and independent learners, expecting them to always give their best.

Study Buddies

Many of our students have the opportunity to have a Study Buddy, a member of our partner church (Community of Grace) who works with them as a tutor, as a resource for extra help, or to offer enrichment.

Spanish

All students in grades K-8 receive Spanish instruction two times a week from instructors who are fluent in Spanish.

ITBS

All students in grades K-8 take the Iowa Tests of Basic Skills (ITBS) every spring. Each year, Community of Grace Christian School students score above the national average on the ITBS. This standardized test is used to help evaluate basic skills such as: vocabulary, word analysis, reading comprehension, listening, language, mathematics, social studies, science and sources of information.
